01.A / Bio

Dihan is a mechanical and aerodynamics engineer whose work sits at the intersection of computational fluid dynamics, thermal management, and aerodynamic optimization.

Across Formula Student motorsport, independent research, and industrial engineering, his approach has stayed consistent: build the simulation methodology from scratch, question the numbers instead of accepting a converged solver, and pair computation with physical testing wherever possible—including designing and building his own miniature wind tunnel to validate CFD predictions experimentally.

02Formula Student Experience

Building without precedent.

Formula Student has shaped almost everything Dihan does as an engineer.

As CTO of FalconE Racing, the University of Moratuwa’s Formula Student team, he led the technical development of Sri Lanka’s first competitive electric Formula Student race car—designed, built, and prepared for competition in about a year, on roughly LKR 15 million, around a sixth of a typical European team’s budget.

With no local precedent, the team secured entirely new sponsors, established vacuum-assisted carbon-fiber resin infusion with local industry, and developed Sri Lanka’s first 600+ Volt pouch-cell pack. In parallel, Dihan built the CFD methodology from the ground up, running more than 1,600 simulations to produce a simulated downforce gain above 310%.

That work culminated at Formula Student Spain 2026 at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, where FalconE Racing placed 28th of 43 teams.
